Kevin S. Barton, D.C.
Kevin Barton, D.C., is a graduate of Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, TX. He graduated with a Doctoral degree in Chiropractic as well as a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. Dr. Barton is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and the Texas Chiropractic Association.
Dr. Barton was first introduced to chiropractic as a teenager after suffering from a severe episode of lower back pain. Impressed with the treatment he received and also from the experience of his older brother who was in chiropractic school, he decided to make a career helping others.
In 2006, Dr. Barton founded Texas Spine Clinic, which strives to be known as the premier back pain and injury clinic in South Texas. Throughout his career, he has been acknowledged for his compassion and commitment to finding a treatment solution when traditional approaches have failed. He actively seeks that solution by utilizing the latest medical technology, the most up-to-date research and a multi-specialty approach. Throughout the years, Texas Spine Clinic has developed into a center offering science-based chiropractic, therapy and medicine. With Chiropractors, Board Certified Physicians specializing in Pain Management and Nurse Practitioners, Texas Spine Clinic is able to treat a more diverse range of conditions and manage more serious injuries. His personal interests include aviation and fitness. Dr. Barton holds an Airline Transport Pilot’s License and also has a Single Engine and Multi Engine Commercial Pilot’s License. He is a Flight Instructor for Single and Multi-Engine aircraft as well as an Instrument Instructor. Dr. Barton’s flying passion includes owning and operating WWII aircraft. He is a member of Warbirds of America, Experimental Aircraft Association and Aircraft Owner’s and Pilot’s Association. He has accumulated more than 4000 flight hours in more than 30 different aircraft including the King Air, TBM, Conquest, Meridian, Mooney, SuperCub, Stearman, T6 Texas, DC-3, Lancair, Cirrus and the Cessna 310.
Dr. Barton and his wife Tessa are the proud parents of two sons, Preston and Jackson, and their daughter Kaitlyn. As a family, they enjoy traveling and snow skiing. All of their kids attend San Antonio Christian School.
Joshua C. Huffman, D.C.
Dr. Huffman earned his Bachelor degree in Human Biology and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, TX. He completed his internship at Moody Health Center in Pasadena, TX with a rotation at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. He has advanced training in myofascial release technique is certified as a designated doctor for the State of Texas.
Dr. Huffman joined the Texas Spine Clinic team in 2008 and has a passion for getting patient’s well. He is a native of Texas and was born and raised in Matagorda County. Dr. Huffman enjoys hunting, fishing, kayaking and hiking with his wife, Kendra and their two children, Titus and Alley.
Darwin Smith, M.D.
Interventional Pain Management
Dr. Smith is a fellowship-trained Interventional Pain Physician and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his residency training in anesthesiology at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School in Houston and a fellowship in interventional pain management at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.
Dr. Smith uses multimodal pain management techniques to help patients improve the quality of their lives. He believes that finding the correct treatment options, in balance with the patients’ day-to-day activities, will allow his patients to recover faster. When pain is treated properly it no longer becomes the focus that limits life’s potential.
Dr. Smith comes to us from Houston, Texas. He has interests in playing tennis, dabbling in piano, listening to classical music, and enjoying the arts overall.
Kayla Meadows, FNP-C
Kayla Meadows has been practicing nursing since 2008. She graduated from Texas A&M Corpus Christi and became certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in May 2019. She received her Family Nurse Practitioners license through the Texas Board of Nursing on June 12, 2019. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, Golden Key Honor Society, Texas Nurse Practitioners Association, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the Hill Country Nurse Practitioner Association. She has experience in long-term care, telemetry, pre-op, post-op, nursery, postpartum, and labor and delivery.
